Concert 3, Online Premiere: Saturday, August 27, 4:00pm PDT, from the Archery Summit Barrel Caves
We are delighted to return to Archery Summit this summer, and to bring with us an exciting program of old and new favorites! Caroline SHAW's Valencia (inspired by a simple supermarket orange) is full of the playful colors and irreverent style has made her music a big WVCMF hit in the past. Gershwin's Lullaby for string quartet is an early work that contains all the heartfelt sentiment that would help him define generations of American music. GOLIJOV's Arum dem Fayer is a setting of a yiddish folk song, set in memory of a friend lost to COVID-19. Finally, we will present Franz Schubert's seldom heard String Quartet in G Major - a stunningly beautiful work often neglected due to its scale and technical difficulty.
PROGRAM
Caroline SHAW - Valencia
George GERSHWIN - Lullaby
Osvaldo GOLIJOV - Arum dem Fayer
Franz SCHUBERT - String Quartet #15 in G Major
ARTISTS:
Sasha CALLAHAN and Megumi STOHS LEWIS, violin; Charles NOBLE, Viola; Leo EGUCHI, Cello.
